The goal of Urban Mentoring Academy is to create an environment that is conducive to evoking change and growth amongst a growing group of middle and early high school students. Success is a must and this is only done through continual and consistent motivation, encouragement, and creation of opportunity for our young men. The founders of Urban Mentoring Academy understand that there are barriers within our surrounding community such as the lack of male figures that contributes to generational poverty, reduced pursuit of higher education, and crime. Therefore, the main goal has become the creation of “Communiversities” where our students have a safe environment with all of the tools, technology, and the support the need to explore future business and collegiate opportunities or aspirations.

As of September 2023, UMA of Savannah moved its operation to Carver Village Community Center located in the Greater Historic Westside of Savannah GA. Since UMA's arrival we have solidified twelve volunteer & active students within a three, month time span. As 2024 approaches, we are excited to focus on the following subjects... Intro to Film, Music Enrichment, and ELA - Literacy Development. We are also excited about a four-day a week program starting January 2024 from 4pm to 7pm.

2022 and 2023 would not be possible without the efforts of The City of Savannah Mayor's Office (Mayor Van Johnson), The City of Savannah - Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement and its End Gun Violence Initiative Grant of 2023. Thank you to The City of Savannah Recreation Department for allowing us to use its facilities (Moses Jackson Community Center, The Grant Center, and Carver Village Community Center). Thank you to ICPORT Savannah for donating our website and its updates. Thank you to Red Eye Productions and Future Minds GED & Adult Literacy LLC for partnering with UMA of Savannah for the ensuing year of 2024. Thank you to all of our Community Stakeholder donors of 2023 (we love you).

Thank you to the following businesses for supporting UMA of Savannah for 2022 - 2023.
